Colonia St. Jordi is a little known resort, but why it should be remains a mystery because offers a lot for tourists. Whilst it is a residencial area, with my ex-pat Britons living in the town, it also has a warm and friendly holiday feel about it. On first impressions you would think that the resort consisted solely of the promenade, shop, bars and restaurants around the harbour and main beach area. But closer inspection, and a walk around the headland reveals much more. There are several small beaches, most of which get very crowded in the summer. But beyond the headland is another part to the resort, which is more modern, and designed to cater for the holidaymaker. Adjoining Colonia St. Jordi is Es Trenc, which is probably one of the nicest stretches of sand in Mallorca. Part of it is reserved for naturalists. |
