Alcudia is a difficult place to describe. Technically, Alcudia is the old Roman town, just a few kilometres away from the Port of Alcudia. The Port area is the start of what is known as the holiday destination of 'Alcudia' and stretches for nearly three and a half kilomteres of golden sands. But Alcudia is also sometimes used to describe the entire 'Bay of Alcudia', which extends beyond and incorporates the sands of Playa de Muro, making the single stretch of sand a total of seven and a half kilometres. The most popular part of the resort is the Port area, and also the area around the Bellevue complex. This is where most of the bars, restaurants and live entertainment takes place. Although there is a large selection of bars and restaurants along the main road from the Port to Playa de Muro Alcudia is an ideal family resort, and if you want to hop over to Menorca for the day there is a daily service from the Port of Alcudia - it takes around two hours. Alcudia town is worth a visit. You can see Roman ruins here, and the town is beautiful. The majority of the bars, restaurants and hotels in Alcudia close in the Winter months. |
